ORCID at the EUI

How to create and connect the ORCID iD to Cadmus, the EUI Research Repository

ORCID integration with Cadmus

The European University Institute has offered full ORCID integration with Cadmus, the EUI Research Repository since 2018. With the launch of the new Cadmus in May 2025, this integration has been enhanced to better serve EUI authors.

All EUI members can create and connect their ORCID iD to Cadmus through the ORCID connection page. Thanks to the new ORCID integration with Cadmus, after connecting, all EUI members will benefit from these functionalities:

  • Display the ORCID iD in Cadmus: All EUI authors will be identified with an ORCID logo . Anyone can click through to the ORCID profile. The identifier now becomes part of the author (person entity) metadata in Cadmus.
  • Push publications from Cadmus to ORCID: All Cadmus publications and data will be pushed to the ORCID profiles of the authors and contributors. This will make it easy to keep author ORCID profiles up-to-date with their recent works.
  • Keep ORCID records updated automatically: Updates to publications in Cadmus will also be pushed to the ORCID profiles, ensuring that the most current information is always available. If a publication is deleted or withdrawn in Cadmus, it will automatically be removed from the ORCID profile, ensuring consistency across platforms.

Advantages: why connect your ORCID to Cadmus?

Through EUI's institutional ORCID membership, you benefit from:

  • A public, portable academic CV via your ORCID profile
  • Automatic syncing:
    • Your Cadmus publications appear automatically in your ORCID profile
    • Updates in Cadmus are reflected in ORCID
  • Cadmus as a trusted source:
    • Cadmus metadata is controlled and accredited
    • You can make it your preferred data source in ORCID settings
  • Add other scholarly works manually (e.g. book reviews, presentations) or via sources like Scopus
  • Funders and publishers increasingly require ORCID to ensure proper attribution of scholarly work

ORCID at the EUI: who can connect?

While the EUI's ORCID integration is primarily designed for the academic community, all EUI authors and contributors — both current and former — are eligible to connect their ORCID iD to Cadmus, the EUI Research Repository. This includes:

  • Academic members
  • Administrative staff
