Transformative Agreement with Springer
Springer: 2025-2029
Springer 2020-2024 agreement is renewed from 1 July 2025 and the new 2025-2029 Springer agreement is currently being defined.
The publishing component waives APCs again for articles with an acceptance date from 1 July 2025.
Additional titles to the existing agreement are the Nature Academic Journals.

Duration of the agreement: 2025-2029 (5 years).
- Type of agreement: Read and Publish Agreement. Full reading access and Open Access publishing for free (APC waived) for EUI members to Springer Nature’s hybrid journals across Springer, Discover, Palgrave Macmillan, and Academic Journals on nature.com.
- Coverage: Eligible Springer Nature’s hybrid journals
- The Open Access option and fee waiver is done after peer-review and after acceptance of the article.

To be eligible, articles must:
- Have a corresponding author affiliated with the European University Institute (EUI).
- Be Original papers or Review papers – eligible article types are original research, original article, original paper, or research paper).
- Be accepted for publication in a Springer journal covered by the agreement.
- Be accepted for publication from 1 July 2025 (for the renewed agreement)
